Sunday we met for our first ever Chivalry guild meeting in Star Wars. It was a brief affair, where we welcomed Liza and Cindron as full members. They stood forth, surrounded by comrades and their new family to take their oath to Chivalry. Michah ​was invited, and accepted, to join in the festivities, since we were unable to do so for him.

After the main event, Kaelara (me!) went over a few brief details. Then we tackled and successfully took down the Coruscant world boss. (And forgot to take a screenshot, oh well!)

I'm going to expand on the main topics discussed very briefly at the meeting:

Promotions

We have some information in our Library, but wanted to make sure members knew how this worked. General Membership has no requirements, other than to play chivalrously and have a good time. Members interested in becoming officers are encouraged to be active. We promote based on a combination of factors - generally including: communication of interest, actively contributing to the guild (taking the lead in forming groups, being helpful on the forums, offering assistance, etc.) We don't promote people expecting them to suddenly step up, we promote people we see already working on giving back to Chivalry (if they are interested).

Other qualities helpful to an officer: Willingness to check the forums semi-frequently each week, even for just a few moments. Good communication skills. Grace under pressure - able to hold cool/be chivalrous even in challenging situations. Being an officer is rewarding, and can be a great way to develop leadership skills that you can then take and apply in real life.

If you don't want the pressure of being an officer, but do want to help, we can always find ways for you to be involved, so feel free to ask!

Just a reminder that each member brings their own unique flavor to the guild, and even little contributions like a comment in guild chat, a post on the forums, a helpful hand in-game, really help to make this community a wonderful place. I love seeing all the diverse areas of people's interests, whether it's in-game, role-playing, or even chatting about real life interests such as Mass Effect or cooking. Thanks everyone, for taking our vision, and making it a reality. You make logging in to the forums and game rewarding! 

Events
While we try to find times and days that work for the majority - we also want members with unique schedule difficulties to know - we care about you. I had a member tell me, "Don't worry about scheduling anything just for me!" While we may not be able to make regular events work for everyone, there is no reason we can't make sure you have an opportunity to engage in bigger community events too! All it takes is just a little communication. Will it always work out? With a little patience, I think I can say confidently... "Yes!"
